Good day to y’all on this 11th day of September, 2025, a significant date to say the least. I wanted to share some updates in the midst of reflecting, remembering, and solace, and most importantly, send healing energy to humanity today by way of some creative inspiration.
My mixed media crafting journey continues as I create master pages, back grounds, snippet rolls, and fodder for which to add to, and for that matter begin new art journals and tiny books. I am certainly having fun! Quite often, an inspiring channel will pop into my youtube feed that will peak my interest and introduce me to yet another technique for which to explore and experiment with.
I finally purchased the Gelli Art tools I have been wanting for awhile now and am testing and playing around with different ideas. I have to contain myself because there are so many techniques presenting themselves to me often and we artists and creative types can easily get side-tracked and jump from one project or idea to another on a whim. I will say that lion’s mane powder in my coffee daily has helped me to focus on one project at a time, and then put it aside when I feel I have hit a creative block. That is progress for this Aries (fire sign) gal, because I move fast yet stealth. Wrangling a fire-sign is not easy and requires lots of practice. I’d say I have managed to wrangle myself, provided there are no negative planet retrogrades interfering with my flow.

The types of paper that I experimented with my first time using the Gelli plate were thin and thick packing paper in both brown and light grey, book paper, velo and tissue paper. I used some pressed botanicals for some fun eco-prints, and the paints I used were Essdee brand Lino ink in black, metallic gold, and fluorescent pink, three of my most favorite colors.

My love for paper has grown exponentially over the years. I cannot help but save the brown packing paper from packages I receive in the mail, or the designer tissue paper and gift wrap received. I have been mixing various types of paper with textiles such as muslin, gauze, and netting, and also incorporating thread, yarn, ribbon, and even pieces of lepidolite crystal. There are other crystals I want to start incorporating eventually for that mystical element I so adore. Snippet rolls are another favorite of mine; teabag paper is the substrate and matte gel is used to adhere bits and pieces of mixed media. The snippet rolls are then rolled onto a piece of driftwood and used as desired on master boards and in art journals. They make for a nice gift wrap element as well.

I am truly grateful for being able to create on a whim, be it daily, weekly, or sometimes hours on end into the night. It depends on my energy level and how many ideas in my mind are eager and waiting to come alive on paper, fabric, or other substrate. I am eager to share my work with others and in the coming months, if not sooner, will begin laying the groundwork for my vlog project. Many years I have thought about doing a vlog aka video log, but nothing sparked me enough to take it serious. Now that I have watched and follow select artsy and crafting channels on youtube, I am manifesting it due to the universe signaling to me that it is time to take the proper steps, invest in the tools and equipment, and make it happen! For now, I will continue creating artwork, content, and sharing with the world. Thank you for your interest and I send you all incredibly high energy and light.
Peace + light, Tania
